Jennifer and the Choker Explosion
Summer of 1997 was the first year my family hosted Japanese exchange students. Michihiro stayed with us that year. There were several funny stories, but the one I'm sharing today took place at the mall. One of the field trips was to a 'real American Mall'. Well, going to the mall is always fun for teenage girls (Jennifer and I fit this category) and Jennifer decided to wear a beaded choker. When we got to the mall, I noticed that it was sagging a bit so I helped her tighten it. 5-10 minutes later she sneezed, and the choker exploded! All around us we heard the sound of beads hitting the linoleum. This story always makes me laugh because I feel a little bit guilty. It was my fault that the choker was too tight.
